Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, sugar, egg substitute and milk.
  • In a large tray, arrange the bread slices in a single layer.
  • Pour milk mixture over the bread slices and let stand for a few minutes.
  • Place a large pan over medium heat and melt butter in it. Now arrange bread slices in the pan. Allow to cook until both sides of bread turn golden brown.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining bread slices and butter.
  • Combine sugar, cornstarch and 2 cups of water in a large pan and bring it to a boil. Continue to cook until the mixture is reduced to about 1 cup.
  • Remove the pan from heat and add fruit. Stir well to coat.
  • Serve fruit sauce with bread slices. Sprinkle with a little powdered sugar just before serving.
